New Picks of the Week December 19, 2010

Sorry everyone. Just a chart update again this week.

Katy Perry is at #1 again this week as she holds at the top with “Firework”. What a year it has been for the California pop star. She dominated the top of the chart this summer with “California Gurls”. Shortly after her 8-week run on top, she returned to #1 with “Teenage Dream”. And now here she is again with her third #1 hit of 2010.

This week’s Top 7 includes six songs that have hit #1. Along with “Firework” are Rihanna’s “What’s My Name” (#2), P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass” (#4), Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” (#5), Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World)” (#6) and Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” (#7). The only song in the Top 7 that has not hit #1 is “Grenade” by Bruno Mars which leaps from 5-3 so it may be just a matter of time until it reaches the chart pinnacle.

The highest debut on the Top 40 this week is “That’s All She Wrote” by T.I. featuring Eminem. It is the 15th chart single for the 30-year old rapper from Atlanta. Two have hit #1, both in 2008: “Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life”. Fellow rapper, Diddy also bows this week at #24 with “Coming Home” featuring Dirty Money and Skylar Grey. It is Diddy’s 13th Top 40 single. He also has been featured on twelve others. Country star Jason Aldean has this week’s other debut with “My Kinda Party” at #39.

Last week Chris Brown had the biggest mover in the Top 40 when he jumped from 39-33 with “Yeah 3X”. This week he defends that honor but with a much more impressive move. He is up from 33-22.
